There’s nothing like taking to the open water to relax a busy mind. Cavan Canoeing is a dedicated centre to canoeing and kayaking related activities. You have the option of taking the canoe out on your own or availing of a guide.  

 

 

4. Killykeen Forest Park

 

The incredibly scenic Killykeen Forest Park has a variety of beautiful walking trails ranging from 1.5km to 5.8km. The walks will lead you through the woods and along the shoreline. There is a variety of wildlife to be seen on these walks including grey squirrels, stoats, badgers, foxes and hedgehogs.

6. Dún an Rí Forest Park

 

Dún an Rí Forest Park, situated near Knigscourt, is 225-hectares of peace and beauty. There are a number of colour coded forest walks so you can take off for as long as you wish without any fear of getting lost! If you take a walk by the river, keep an eye out for otters and minks.

 

 

7. Outdoors and Dirty / Sports 

 

If your idea of relaxation is blowing off steam through sporting activities, then you will thoroughly enjoy Outdoors and Dirty. They have a wide range of interesting activities including wild water hovercraft racing and rage buggy rallying.

 

8. Marble Arch Caves Geopark 

 

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle, why not go underground? The Marble Arch Caves Geopark, situated at the foothills of Cuilcagh Mountain, have been described as “a miracle of nature” and “one of the finest show caves in Europe”. If cave trekking isn’t your thing, the park also offers activities such as cruising, canoeing, walking, cycling, and fishing.   

 

9. Cavan Burren Park

 

There’s nothing quite like taking to the wide open countryside to rid your mind of stress. The Cavan Burren Park, situated in Blacklion, is a beautiful place to hike and it is also home to a number of historical features such as forts, tombs, and kilns.
