Two new books from Cork let girls and boys fill in the blanks to create a totally personal record of their First Holy Communion Day.

The First Holy Communion Keepsake Journal invites girls to share their thought and memories. They can make a note of who came along on the day. They can design a dress and decide how they might spend any Communion money that comes their way.

In the First Holy Communion Keepsake Activity Book boys are asked to sportify a donkey for Jesus and design a speedy vehicle to bring Granddad to mass on time.

They can also write down what they think about Jesus and make up prayers. It's up to them.

Author Avril O’Reilly says “The books are designed to keep all the Communion memories and facts in one place but it is also a record of a child at a special, innocent time in their life. The book improves with age. I can imagine kids looking back on their Confirmation days or even their wedding day. The Communion is where the spiritual journey starts “.

“I wrote the book for girls with my nieces in mind and the boys version is inspired by my nephews. Maybe it's not politically correct to say so but I think the genders are quite different at that age.”

The First Holy Communion Keepsake Journal makes a sweet Holy Communion gift. Add a few euro or a set of markers you’ll be the best auntie/granny/sister ever.
