She gave birth to her third child last year, and actress Kate Winslet has opened up about why she kept her pregnancy a secret during filming.

Speaking exclusively to Yahoo Celebrity, the 39-year-old said she wanted to film a particular scene so badly she kept her news quiet.

The part she didn’t want to miss out on involved her falling into cascading water for her new movie, A Little Chaos.

Admitting she really wanted to do it, the mum-of-three told the entertainment site: "To be honest I really had to be prepared because I was pregnant when I was making the film and I didn’t tell anybody, well Alan Rickman knew."

"But I didn’t tell anyone else because I knew if I told them they wouldn’t let me do that scene and I really wanted to do the scene. I didn’t want a stunt person to do it because why should the stunt person get to have all the fun when it’s my character?" she added.

However, she revealed she was never in any danger as she knew exactly what she had to do: "I know what all the water safety stuff is now because of Titanic, I know it kind of sounds like the cliché thing, but honestly I do know and I do know better than everybody else!"

Thankfully, she managed to complete the scene safely going on to give birth to Bear Blaze, her first child with husband Ned RockNRoll

The actress who has not appeared in a period film in ten years, also admitted that while she enjoyed wearing the corset it didn’t bode well with her pregnant body, saying: "All I can say is being pregnant and wearing a corset is hilarious - because there's nothing you can do about the boobs."

"There they are! And they just keep getting bigger, and you keep trying to squash them into... just into another place, because they don't even go down any more, you just try and find space under your armpits, anywhere. It really is hilarious,” she added.
