A mum has issued a warning to parents everywhere, urging them not to put their children to bed wearing onesies.

Katie Price, from Fife in Scotland, shared the safety message via Facebook, after her three-year-old daughter Sophie almost suffocated.

Explaining how Sophie had come into her bed earlier that night, Katie said she was ‘thankful’ she had been there to help her little one when she got into trouble.

She recalled: “She was so quiet in bed with me. I hear a weird noise, and I turn around to her being choked by her onesie. The zip was too high on her neck and stopping her from breathing. She couldn’t even tell me or try to get my attention because she was suffocating!”

Explaining exactly how the incident arose, Katie added: “She moved up, the onesie moved down at the back, the front tightened around her neck. With it being a zip, it got stuck and she couldn’t loosen it, which resulted in her airways being pushed against and strangled, basically.”

Thankfully, Katie was able to come to her daughter’s assistance, and the tot is now ‘shook up but fine’ – but she doesn’t want another family to fall victim to a similar accident.

With no label expressly stating that children shouldn’t be put to bed in the onesie, Katie wants to ensure that other parents know of the dangers of these garments.
