About

Balgriffin is proud to be an NCNA All Ireland Centre of Excellence 2008-2011

The All Ireland of Excellence Award acknowledges NCNA/Early Years members who are providing excellent standards of care for children in Ireland. Holders of the award demonstrate a commitment to quality, and success in implementing and maintaining consistently high standards of excellence.

The Balgriffin Centre, opened in May 2007, is a fantastic purpose-built child care centre providing a warm, homely and stimulating environment including an outdoor area for extended play and learning. The centre offers high quality early care and education for babies and children aged from 3 months to 12 years. They offer full, part-time care and flexible sessions for all age groups along with pre and after school care (with school drop off and collection). The centre also run year round Out-of-School Camps.

Bright Horizons Balgriffin are excited to have launched their “Ready for School in the Montessori Inspired Curriculum” in September 2010.

Preschool children are invited to participate in child centred learning through Montessori at their own pace. Children can explore materials where professionally trained staff guide their next steps by showing an alternative, a lesson and documenting their accomplishments. Truly observing young children who are given freedom exploring an environment designed for self learning enables our staff to scaffold each child to reach their highest potential.

The centre has a well qualified, long serving and very experienced staff team.

The onsite chef uses fresh produce and plans menus to provide children with a nutritionally balanced diet throughout the week.

The centre is located not far from the Hilton Hotel on the Malahide Road. Take the first right at the traffic lights and continue past the graveyard on the left hand side. St. Samson’s is a development on the right and Bright Horizons is the large building on the end facing the green.

Bright Horizons has been consistently recognised as one of the Best Workplaces in Ireland for the last 4 years by the Great Place to Work Institute.

At Bright Horizons children learn and grow through our unique curriculum for learning, “The World at their Fingertips”. Through “World” children are empowered to become confident, active lifelong learners, supported by a highly trained and experienced staff team.

The Bright Horizons Centres are now introducing Aistear the Irish National Curriculum Framework. The framework is based on 12 broad principles, for babies and children aged from birth to 6 years, the observations conducted by the staff will link into the new framework. The staff will continue to have training on Aistear.

The environments within the centre invite children to learn and to see a world of possibilities that are within their reach and our “Ready for School” programme helps children approach school with self help skills and confidence that will enable them to succeed.

Bright Horizons offer our “Growing Readers” programme as we realise the importance of Early Language Development for all our children.

The centre have been using signing with the babies and toddlers since they opened and have found this to be a valuable way of communication as the children can express their needs long before they have vocabulary skills to talk. The staff have received training and use it daily.
