Special Olympics Ireland is first and foremost a sports organisation for people with an intellectual disability, but it also provides athletes with far more than the physical benefits of sport. It’s about fun, friendships and team spirit; it’s about a feeling of belonging and ultimately improving quality of life.

Special Olympics Ireland changes lives in so many different ways.  Through sport, athletes develop both physically and emotionally, they make new friends, realise their dreams, and know they can fit in. Special Olympics Ireland enables them to achieve and win not only in sport but in life too.

The Special Olympics Ireland Annual Charity Collection Day, proudly supported by eircom, will take place throughout Ireland on Friday, 24th April. This is the biggest annual fundraising event in aid of Special Olympics Ireland and is essential to ensuring that the organisation continues to develop and grow. There are currently 10,500 athletes in Special Olympics Ireland that train in over 400 clubs throughout the country who need your support.
