Hot pink lipstick is top of the fashion polls at the moment, but it needs to be worn properly or it can look a little scary. Pink is playful and wonderful and a less structured look than red lipstick. If you do it right, it can really add to your glamorous evening look. Follow these tips to wear hot pink lipstick with style.
Look at your clothes
Are you wearing pink anywhere else? If not, it might be best to skip the hot pink lips look. Hot pink needs to be an accent colour and shouldn’t really be the main focus of your look.
Don’t line your lips
Hot pink is less structured than other colours, so liner can make it look unnatural and can even make you look older than you wanted to.
Flatter your skin tone
If you have cool undertones to your skin, stick with bluer pinks. Choose the hot pinks that have more orange or yellow hues if your skin has warmer undertones.
Apply a light coat to start
Start light and then build up the colour strength by adding more layers later if needed. Use your fingertips rather than a brush for a smoother application.
Keep the rest of your makeup neutral
You don't want anything to compete with or clash against your hot pink lip;s, which is why we recommended not wearing any hot pink clothes if you’re rocking the look. The same applies to your makeup; keep it neutral to compliment your lips.
