When it comes to providing a home for our families it is up to us as parents to decide what we think would suit us best - and NO ONE else.

In fact, the last thing we need is someone taking it upon themselves to shame us for our choices, something that this family in San Diego had to deal with when they received a note criticising them for living in a "tiny" home.

According to Mashable, Kelly and Mike Brüning, who are parents to two kids aged two and four, have lived in their beachside apartment for nine years.

The family frequently play on the beach which Kelly calls their "infinite backyard" but apparently this is not good enough for one neighbour who decided to call the Brüning family out on their "tiny apartment".

However, Mike was not going to take it lying down and posted the letter on his Facebook page.

Not surprising, friends and family were quick to share their disgust with one writing:

"I think you are truly selfish and I volunteer to live in your house and you can live in my suburban heaven with no view and no peace and no serenity but a backyard and a park so that you can live a real life like unselfish parents do[sic]," wrote one.

"I am kind and unselfish so I am willing to give of myself in this way. (Ok I'm a miserably jealous woman. Let your pure and wonderful life be your sweet revenge) [sic]."
