Earlier this week, a woman spoke out urging people to get informed before leaving passive-aggressive notes on cars parked in disabled spots, and now an Australian mum has been reduced to tears over a series of similar incidents.

Sydney native Hannah Garlick has this week shared an emotionally-charged video, calling on people everywhere to acknowledge that just because someone is not in a wheelchair, it doesn’t mean they do not have a disability.

Hannah’s son Caleb suffers from a range of illnesses - eosinophilic oesophagitis (an allergic inflammatory condition), laryngomalacia (a condition affecting the laryngeal cartilage) and severe eczema which requires him to be wet-bandaged by nurses twice a day.

As it’s dangerous for Caleb to be outside, and Hannah is under pressure to get home for the nurses’ visits, she often finds herself rushing while dropping her daughter off at Kindergarten.

A recent incident at the Kindergarten left Hannah shaken however, and she took to Facebook to share a very important message with the world.

Recalling what happened when she parked in a disabled spot, Hannah said: “The second I got out of the car, I had a lady approach me and say, ‘That’s disabled parking, you know, you can’t park there. Do you have a sticker?’”

Hannah’s disabled sign hangs from her rear-view mirror, and she was able to show this and explain her situation with Caleb to the inquisitive stranger. This wasn’t the first time that this happened to Hannah, however; indeed, she revealed that she is always being confronted or finding passive-aggressive notes on her car.

Breaking down in tears over how ‘stressful’ and ‘hard’ the situation is, Hannah sent out a strong and important message: “Just because he’s not in a wheelchair, doesn’t mean he’s not disabled. Just because he’s a little boy, and some days he looks amazing and normal, doesn’t mean there’s no disability there.”
