As parents, we strive to do our very best for our children when it comes to food, play and education – but, as so many of us have learned, it’s impossible to be ‘the perfect mum’.

One woman who has had just about enough of the ‘mum-shaming’, especially when it comes to what we feed our children, is Australian mother Paige-Alexis Cunningham.

The Sydney native took to Facebook this week to vent her frustration over the barrage of posts and articles written about ‘what not to feed your kids’, and the general judgment of mothers to one another.

Giving a run-down of her kids’ food on that day, including everything from watermelon to cereal and McDonalds Happy Meals, Cunningham had a powerful message to share.

Afternoon snack of watermelon and a bit of a rant. Lately my feed has been flooded with people sharing 'what not to...

“Why did they have Happy Meals and juice? Because they wanted it. We were out in public and I was bloody exhausted and didn’t want to fight with them,” she said, in an admission that many of us can relate to.

Calling on women everywhere to be more supportive of one another, she added: “Everyone needs to stop the mum-shaming! Did you feed your kids some crap today? Yeah cool, you fed them!...At the end of the day, fed children are best. Don’t let them eat junk all the time, but don’t lay the guilt on yourself or any other parent if they ate two-minute noodles and Nutella today.”

It’s no wonder her post has accumulated almost 17-and-a-half-thousand likes – we can all identify with the frustration she is feeling, can we not?
