With innumerable fans of the British royal family glued to their televisions and social media feeds so as not to miss a moment of Princess Charlotte's christening on July 5th this year, many are bound to have noticed a rather conspicuous absence during the high-profile proceedings.

Missing from the momentous occasion was Princess Charlotte's uncle Harry, who chose not to return home to the UK for the festivities, and, according to a recent report, happily stood by his decision.

Harry, who also missed the birth of his niece in May, had planned a trip to Africa which unfortunately coincided with the royal tot's christening in Norfolk.

Commenting on his decision at the time, 30-year-old Harry reportedly acknowledged that his non-attendance may get tongues wagging, but he insisted his conservation work should take priority.

According to Simson Uri-Krob, who runs Save the Rhino, the popular royal reportedly said: "What a bad uncle I am! I should really be there."

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, the source insisted that despite tongue-in-cheek references to his prowess as an uncle, the wildlife enthusiast was adamant he ultimately made the right choice, saying: "But today I am here. This is where I want to be."

We're sure the beautiful Princess Charlotte will forgive her uncle in time!
