340g caster sugar

6 eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

225g self-raising flour

1 tsp baking powder

100g cocoa powder

140ml milk

Chocolate glaze

100g dark chocolate

100ml cream

White icing

50g icing sugar

100g melted white chocolate

Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas 4.

Grease and line a 9-inch springform cake tin.

Beat together the butter and caster sugar.

Add 6 eggs one at at a time, beating between each addition.

Sift in the flour and baking powder.

Add the milk and mix together well.

Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes.

To make the chocolate glaze, melt together the dark chocolate and the cream in the microwave for about 1 minute, then whisk until you have a smooth and glossy glaze.

Pour the glaze over the top of the chocolate cake, allow to set.

To make the white icing mix together the icing sugar and melted white chocolate. Add the mix to a piping bag.
