SMA winners at Maternity and Infant Awards

The Maternity & Infant Awards took place on November 18th at the Shelbourne Hotel, and many mums will have watched the show when it was broadcast on TV3 on Monday December 5th. The awards were hosted by Sybil Mulcahy and Martin King of the Morning Show and recognised the very best in products and services available to Irish mums, babies and families across the country, as voted by the public.

SMA Nutrition was a proud winner of one of the categories at the Maternity & Infant Awards 2011.  SMA is manufactured in Ireland and has played a major part in the lives of many Irish mums and children around the country for many decades and as such is synonymous with the gold standard of feeding in Ireland in our opinion. These awards are a wonderful way of indicating the brands preferred by mums across Ireland and SMA Nutrition were delighted to be recognised as a brand trusted by Irish mums for providing the best nutrition for their children.

What is nice about the Maternity & Infant Awards is that not only do they highlight great brands but they also honour the unsung heroes throughout Irish society and given how tough things are at the moment, it's nice for something so positive to take place on an annual basis. Nominated by friends, co-workers, and loved ones, the inspirational 13 people award winners were presented at the award ceremony which makes the event really heart warming and inspirational. The event showcases these amazing stories and heroic individuals and gives them a well earned day out too.

Last year’s Special Merit Award winner were the Benhaffaf family who many will know as the family who went through an arduous 14-hour surgery to separate their co-joined twin boys, Hassan and Hussein. Mum Angie Benhaffaf was in attendance at the awards ceremony to give an update on twins who are now wearing prosthetics and looking forward to taking their first steps. Another heart warming winner was baby Padraig O’Callaghan who won the 2011 Baby Story of the Year category - he is thriving despite the odds, after his parents Mary and Brian struggled through six failed IVF treatments and severe complications before his birth.

Well done to Maternity & Infant magazine for organising the awards and to brands such as SMA Nutrition who sponsored and supported this event because without their support, the event wouldn't take place.
