Pancake Tuesday is fast approaching and Superquinn bakers are working hard to bring you freshly made, delicious pancakes. Superquinn expect to sell about 700,000 pancakes in the lead up to Pancake Tuesday, making it a very popular treat for kids and adults alike. The lovely people at Superquinn sent MummyPages some chocolate pancakes with cream and berries to test out and they were so tasty they were gone within minutes!
Traditionally Shrove Tuesday marks the last day before Lent, the season of fasting, a day to indulge and enjoy pancakes filled with delicious sweet or savory toppings. Every country has a different tradition associated with Shrove Tuesday – in France pancakes are sprinkled with brown sugar and lemon juice, Germans love pancakes with apple filling and vanilla ice cream, while in America pancakes are eaten with maple syrup or fried bacon.
To celebrate Pancake Tuesday, Superquinn recommends the following serving suggestions that all the family will enjoy:
- Chocolate Delight: chocolate pancakes with raspberries and whipped cream or ice-cream
- Canadian Twist: regular pancakes with maple syrup and vanilla ice cream or chocolate sauce and bananas
- The Classic: regular pancakes, lemon juice, sugar
