You asked

What should I do if my contact lenses are uncomfortable to wear?

Contact lenses shouldn’t be uncomfortable to wear. If you are experiencing discomfort while wearing your contact lenses this can be caused by a number of reasons including:

  • You may have an eye infection (conjunctivitis)
  • You may be developing a cold
  • There may be deposits on the lens
  • There may be a tear in the contact lenses.
  • Scratched cornea

If you are experiencing any discomfort you should discontinue wearing the contact lenses and make an appointment with an optometrist. If you continue using contact lenses while experiencing discomfort it could cause damage to the eye.
