A seven month old is gearing up to make the transition from baby to toddler. Your child is learning to use his or her hands and limbs, can probably sit, and may already be crawling. At this age, development is all about gross and fine motor skills, and there are several toys that can help with this development.
Activity boards, with sliders, bells and other fun things to try are a great item for six to nine month olds, as are balls that he or she can roll or throw.
Wooden or soft blocks encourage stacking – a favourite pastime for this age group, and your child will probably also love one or more soft dolls or teddies (this is the age when most children first start choosing ‘comfort items’).
Toys that move, like cars or trucks are another big hit with this age group, and you can also start expanding that book collection to include more complex stories.
Since babies this age still like to put things in their mouths, you should still look for toys that are large and that are not a choking hazard. You may even find that household items like plastic bowls and wooden spoons become favourite toys too!
