A young mum feared she would die just six days after giving birth to her son, when she was laid low with a mysterious infection.

Nadia Gorman was at home, preparing to take her newborn son Murphy for a walk when she suddenly felt a stabbing pain in her side, according to The Mirror

Her partner Paul Newcombe called an ambulance but when Nadia's temperature began to soar, the hospital advised him not to wait.

By the time Nadia, 23, was assessed in hospital, she was in a critical state and was going into septic shock.

Doctors suspected an infection in her womb but when they operated they could find no sign of it.

They placed Nadia in intensive care, trying drips and antibiotics to fight the mysterious illness.

At one point, the new mum was even on a ventilator.

As a precaution, little Murphy had to be kept away from his mum.

Nadia says her partner and family feared she would die: "At one point Paul was preparing to bring up Murphy alone.

"Nurses gave me a cloth to put my scent on to give to Murphy incase anything happened to me."

Thankfully Nadia managed to beat the bizarre illness and is now cherishing every minute she spends with four-month-old Murphy.
