He shocked people all over the world when he revealed the truth behind his ‘9/11’ story, and now this actor has opened up about the impact of his lie on his family.

The League star Steve Rannazzisi appeared on The Howard Stern Show this week to give an insight into life after his recent scandal. The actor previously said that he had been working in the World Trade Centre during the September 11 terrorist attacks, but he recently admitted that the story was a total lie.

During last night’s appearance, Rannazzisi said that while his wife was forced to go along with his lie, his two young children don’t know what’s going on right now.

“They don’t know why Daddy needs to be in his office on the phone or why Daddy’s crying sometimes,” admitted the 37-year-old.

Insisting that the lie 'wasn’t calculated', Rannazzisi also revealed that TV presenter Peter Davidson – whose fireman father died in the 9/11 attack – reached out to him after the scandal.

“The thing that he said to me was that people make mistakes. I can’t even say thank you enough to Peter Davidson. That guy, he’s top notch,” he said.

Rannazzisi shocked his fans and followers in September when he admitted to concocting the story about escaping the terrorist attacks. Describing the lie as “inexcusable”, the star said that he went public with the truth for the sake of his children.
