As mums, we all have certain things which are simply not up for negotiation with our children.

Whether it's homework, household chores or bedtimes, most of us have a zero tolerance policy on at least one parenting issue, and it seems much-loved TV presenter, Tess Daly, is no different.

Opening up during a recent interview with Fabulous magazine, the famous mum-of-two, revealed her stance on certain issues and acknowledged other matters require less rigidity.

"I’m strict on manners, bedtime and sugar. They only have sugar on Friday and they have to stick to bedtimes. I will relax on other things now and again," she explained while giving an insight into Daly / Kay family life.

Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess, who married husband Vernon Kay 12 years ago, admits that she and her fellow TV presenter sometimes differ when it comes to their children, Phoebe and Amber.

Opening up about a recent parenting decision, 46-year-old Tess revealed her 11-year-old daughter, Phoebe, hopes to have her ears pierced, but was met with resistance when she broached the topic.

Reflecting on her own experience, Tess revealed she was happy to allow it, but Vernon was reluctant, saying: "I remember begging my mum, and because I wasn’t allowed mine done until I was 16, I said yes. But Vernon said no, so she’ll have to wait a while yet."

Acknowledging their sometimes conflicting attitudes to certain parenting issues, Tess explains: "Marriage can be hard work but Vernon and I are a team. He’s a brilliant dad and a family man and we’ve grown up together."

It sounds like they're doing a great job to us!
