When a child loses a parent, focusing your attention on them is important in order to ease the mourning period as much as possible for their sake, but also for you.

That is exactly what former footballer and commentator Rio Ferdinand is doing, following the tragic passing of his wife Rebecca back in May.

The star – who is father to nine-year-old Lorenz, six-year-old Tate and four-year-old Tia – took to his social media channels this weekend to share shots from his family holiday in Greece.

The 36-year-old posted a sweet shot of himself hanging out on a boat with his two sons, while another photo showed him during his morning workout, with one of his little one playing copycat!

Rio’s late wife lost her battle with breast cancer two months ago at the age of 34, with the former Manchester United player confirming that sad news to the media.

Describing Rebecca as “incredibly brave”, the father-of-three said after her death: “As footballers, we often talk about missing important games through injury as if it was the end of the world. Believe me, it isn’t when compared to your wife and mother of your children dying of cancer at the age of 34.”

Commenting recently, a source said of Rio: “He is still grieving but is 100 percent focused on the children.”

Our thoughts remain with the family as they come to terms with their loss, and we hope Rio and the little ones are having a lovely holiday.
