As celebrity weddings go, we’re used to seeing extravagant bashes with all the trimmings, but it seems this wasn't the case in every sense for this famous couple.

Presenter and author Dawn O’Porter took to social media today to mark her three-year wedding anniversary with actor husband Chris O’Dowd, and she made quite the surprising revelation in her post.

The star, who welcomed the couple’s son Art earlier this year, posted a photo of her wedding dress to Instagram – and it certainly isn’t what we were expecting.

Beneath the photo of a beautiful pale pink dress, the mother-of-one wrote: “Three years ago today I married the man I love in this old and beaten outfit I got for £24 on EBay.”

“If I’d have just have waited three years, I could have worn my own version of it. The Dee. Life is one big ‘If Only’, isn’t it?” she added.

Sharing a photo of her self-designed white version of the dress, Dawn added: “I need to get married again so I can wear this one. I can promise there are no holes in the pockets of the BOB version.”

While the post was supposed to be an homage to her special day, Dawn left many of her followers feeling frustrated when they saw the price she is charging for her own design - £160.

“Maybe don’t tell people how much the original was when yours is about 6 times the price,” vented one follower.

Meanwhile, another fan accused her of lying, suggesting that she had actually worn a different dress: “Noooo u didn’t you fibberoony, it was a blue floaty one that @williamvintage helped source [sic].”

We bet she wasn’t expecting that kind of response! There is never a dull moment on Instagram, is there?
