Let's be real - friendship breakups can sometimes be worse than romantic breakups. And, like romantic breakups, they can happen due to years of unhappiness and resentment, or simply be sparked one day by a new development.

Ferne McCann and Sam Faiers are going through one such rift.

We've been wracking our brains as to why the former TOWIE stars have ended their friendship, and the answer turns out to be fairly simple. The split was all over their rival TV shows about motherhood.

Sam has starred in The Mummy Diaries since 2016, when she gave birth to her son Paul. The series also followed her motherhood journey when she welcomed her daughter Rosie in November 2017.

Ferne is featuring in her own parenthood series, First Time Mum, which started filming in November 2017, when her own daughter, Sunday, was born.

"We fell out because I went ahead and filmed for this show," the mum-of-one revealed to Star Magazine.

Ferne has had a difficult year, as Sunday's father, Arthur Collins, is in prison for his part in an acid attack in London.

With this in mind, she admitted, "After the year I've had, I haven't got the energy to entertain feuds. I just want positivity around me."

We certainly can't blame her for wanting to rid herself of negativity in light of the tough start she's had as a mum.

The I'm a Celebrity star also opened up about her relationship with Billie Faiers, Sam's sister.

"I went round and it's all cleared up," the 27-year-old said, and mentioned Billie's upcoming wedding to Greg Shepherd: "It's all fine, I'm going to their wedding."

We are happy to hear she and Billie are still on good terms.
