She is known for her refreshing honesty, recently admitting that she ‘doesn’t care’ that calls from film studios are scarce for her these days, but we wonder how her latest comments about women over the age of 40 will settle with her fans.

Hollywood actress Salma Hayek, who is herself a mother-of-one, has said she feels ‘awful’ for women in their forties who don’t have children.

Opening up in an interview with The Huffington Post, the 48-year-old – who is mum to eight-year-old daughter Valentina – was speaking about life for a star in their forties when she made the comments.

“You don’t look as bad as you thought you were going to look. You don’t feel as old as you thought you were going to feel. It’s a myth. Forties are full of life,” she said.

However, the Frida star went on to add: “The only thing that is tough about the forties is when you haven’t had a child. This is awful. And the men today are terrible, because when you are coming to the forties they…start going away. But you know what? [Not] the good ones.”

Salma is married to businessman Francois-Henri Pinault.
