No matter what has gone on in her private life, she is never to be seen without a smile and a positive attitude, and it seems this positivity is a running theme in Hollywood actress Kate Hudson’s life.

The Fool’s Gold star has spoken out about the decision to end her engagement to former partner and Muse singer Matt Bellamy, admitting that it seemed to be the better option for her two children.

In an interview with Red magazine, the 36-year-old – who split with Matt in 2014, after four years together – said: “If it doesn’t work, you can’t force it. The bigger you love, the more vulnerable you are, the scarier it is if it’s lost. I do feel that it is better to have two people as parents that are truly happy in themselves for their children.”

Kate and Matt are parents to four-year-old son Bingham, while the actress is also mother to 11-year-old Ryder; her son with ex-husband Chris Robinson.

Now happily co-parenting with Matt, the mother-of-two added: “Of course the goal is always to stay together. Matt and I really worked on it together, and we came to the point where we realised that we are really better as friends and that is a healthier approach for our kids.”
