While the rest of her family have been appealing to the public for thoughts and prayers in the wake of Lamar Odom's hospitalisation last week, the basketball star's estranged wife, Khloé Kardashian, has kept a relatively low profile.

However, the 31-year-old star has today decided to break her silence and open up about the impact the last week has had on her while also paying tribute to the medical staff who cared for the sports star.

"The past week has been incredibly difficult. I am so thankful to family, friends and fans, who have sent nothing but prayers and well wishes to Lamar," she wrote in a statement which has been published to her website.

Crediting the medical team's dedication for Lamar's progress, she continued: "I also want to take a moment to thank everyone at Sunrise Hospital, including the amazing doctors and nurses for their kindness and diligent work. Under their amazing care, incredible strides have been made."

In addition to this, Khloé acknowledged the support she has been given by her world-famous family. writing: "You can never be prepared for an experience like this, but without the outpouring of love and endless prayers that Lamar has received and the strength I was given from my loved ones, it would have been difficult to endure."

Thanking fans and followers for their continued support, the reality TV star finished her first post since Lamar's hospitalisation with the words: "God is great."

Last night Lamar was given permission from doctors in Nevada to begin treatment in L.A - a plan of action which was put into place by the Kardashian family so that they can be close to the star as he recovers.
