Egg nog - luxury

This is a luxurious version of this American favourite
Makes at least 10-15 drinks
450ml Cognac
225ml dark rum
225ml bourbon
125ml medium dry sherry
1 litre cream
1 litre milk
200g caster sugar
12 eggs, separated
Pour all of the alcohol, milk and cream into a large jug and set aside.
Put the egg yolks and sugar into a bowl and beat with an electric mixer until really creamy and pale. This should take about 5 minutes.
Slowly pour in half of the alcohol and cream mixture to the beaten eggs and sugar.
In spotlessly clean bowl, whisk the egg whites until stiff. Gently fold them into the egg/sugar/cream/alcohol mixture and then add the remainder of the alcohol and cream.
Leave it sit in the fridge over night. Mix really well before use and dust with some nutmeg before serving.
