What's the secret to a healthy marriage? According to Sex and the City's Sarah Jessica Parker, it's time apart from your spouse.

"I know this sounds nuts, but we have lives that allow us to be away and come back together," the actress said on Girlboss Radio with Sophia Amoruso of husband Matthew Broderick.

The 52-year-old explained, "His work life takes him here, and mine takes me there. In some ways, I think that that’s been enormously beneficial because we have so much to share in a way.

"Anytime that any relationship is hard, it’s the point in which you’re deciding, ‘Is this worth the investment getting through whatever that thing is?'"

The Failure to Launch star reassuringly said, "I’ve been fortunate. Relationships are hard. I always felt that I wanted to invest more."

The mum-of-three also admits that things aren't always peachy keen between her and her husband of over 20 years, but that slight annoyances have never held them back.

"I love him, and I think he’s brilliant. I’m sure I annoy him. He annoys me sometimes. But also, I’m enormously proud of the person he is," Sarah shared.

"I think the longer you can last, the more invested you just are and so their triumphs are yours, their disappointments are yours the more you feel those things and experience them, the more it’s hard to imagine not being part of their life."

One person who may not be a part of the Hocus Pocus actress' life anymore is Kim Cattrall, who recently told Piers Morgan that her relationship with Sarah and the other Sex and the City stars was purely professional, rather than personal.

When Andy Cohen asked Sarah how she felt about Kim's comment on Watch What Happens Live, the mum replied, "Just...heartbroken."

"I mean that whole week, you and I spoke about it because I was just...I don't know I found it really upsetting because that's, you know, that's not the way I recall our experience," the Divorce star said.

"It was a professional experience, but it became personal because it was years and years of our lives, so I'm hoping that that sort of eclipses anything that's been recently spoken."

Plans for a third Sex and the City film have recently been scrapped by Warner Bros. Pictures, and some have blamed Kim's decision not to reprise her role as Samantha for the project being thrown out.

Kim has been jokingly (or maybe seriously? fingers crossed?) been mentioning some actresses who could replace her, from Oprah to Tiffany Haddish to Sofia Vergara. So maybe the film isn't dead!

What do you think of Sarah's perspective on marriage? Would you watch Sex and the City 3 if it had a different Samantha?
