Creating a relaxing living room is easy to do, and you probably have most of these items in your home already.

 

  1. Pop a vase or two around the room to add colour and life.
  2. Make use of candles, both scented and non-scented, and scatter them around the room. Don’t forget to light them - that’s what they are there for.
  3. Get rid of any toys or mess that simply clutters the space. This will immediately make you feel a lot more relaxed.
  4. Lots of various textures around the furniture will make it feel warmer and therefore more relaxing.
  5. A large rug in the centre of the room will make everything seem cosier and more inviting.
  6. Fill your couch with lots and lots of pillows.
  7. Use subtle lighting - avoid using anything too harsh or bright.
  8. Make use of natural light as much as possible.
  9. Hang family pictures that will leave you feeling happy all over the walls.
  10. Don’t forget about books, but only ones that you like reading – put the more work/ school related ones in the study.
