We spend so much of our time trying to get our babies to sleep that shouldn't be making sure it's the highest quality sleep they can get.

It seems that traditional cots could be causing more harm than good.

With research showing the negative effects lying flat can have on a baby’s back, this new safety bed claims to be the answer.

Experts recommend what is called the “C curve” to promote healthy spine development which traditional cots can neglect as a baby is lying in a flat line.

What’s even more worrying is that these cots can contribute to the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

The Crescent Womb Safety Bed claims to aid everything from babies breathing to their digestion, but how?

The bed mimics the beneficial properties of the womb and encourages comfort and development for babies.

The hammock-like shape of the bed also claims to reduce the risk of SIDS as the flexible mesh fabric cradles the child and stops them from overheating which can be a huge contributing factor.

And having launched a Kickstarter campaign that has nearly tripled it's funding goal, it seems many parents are keen to get their hands on this safety bed.
