When it comes to decorating your home for Christmas, simply putting your tree up is never enough anymore. Just as you would for Halloween, this December spend a little time making your porch look festive and Christmassy.

Hang a wreath

Pop a holly wreath in the centre of your door for a real Christmas feel. You can make one with twigs, holly and berries from your garden, accessorised with red ribbon; if you don’t have the time, simply pick one up in your local shop.

A cardboard snowman

Be a little creative this year and make your very own snowman cardboard cut out. Simply get a large piece of cardboard – you can use an old box for this – and cut out Frosty and let your kids paint and decorate it.

Fake candles

Unless they are going to be supervised at all times, we suggest you use fake candles to light up your porch in the evenings.

Christmas garland

Rather than hanging the garland over your fireplace, put it along the bottom of your porch or around the door.

Fairy lights

If you don’t have any fake candles why not opt to use fairy lights instead. Hang over your door or even around plant pots you have in there.
