The birth process is amazing in itself, but recent videos have shed light on a number of interesting birth ‘phenomena’; from babies born ‘en caul’ to those who ‘walk’ out of the womb.

The internet has been left in awe this week, after doula Sophie Messager shared an incredible video of a baby ‘walking itself out of the womb’ during a ‘gentle Caesarean’.

Posting the video to Facebook, Sophie explained that the mother in question had a number of prerequisites for her birthing process – including permission for the ‘walking out of the baby, to help clear lungs’.

While doctors in the mother’s local hospital would not permit the procedure, the mother travelled to another hospital when labour began – and she even agreed for the entire process to be filmed, for the education of others.

Sharing her amazement over the footage, Sophie explained how this gentle Caesarean was a procedure with a difference: “I especially loved watching the baby walking himself out of the womb. The mum also told me that they waited until the cord had finished pulsating before clamping it.”

“For me, this really shows how it isn't how the baby is born, but how the people present respect wishes and demonstrate support and kindness that makes a beautiful birth,” she added.

You can check out the footage below – just be warned; it is rather graphic.
