Heres what to do in Center Parcs when its raining

Is it really an Irish holiday without a downpour? Every family wishes the Irish weather will miraculously mirror Spain’s climate when they head off on their holiday but we all know that is too good to be true.

The wellies, raincoats and the good umbrella are always squeezed into the boot at the last minute when we all reluctantly accept the fact that it will rain over the weekend. It’s a given and it has spoiled many a family holiday in my time, but this is one thing I didn’t have to worry about in Center Parcs.

You’ll be happy to see the rain when you’re in Center Parcs because there are so many indoor activities available for the children. And fear not, mums. You’ll be able to relax and unwind in one of the many cafes and restaurants on site.

One thing the children will adore is the massive indoor water park and pool. Trying to get them to finish up will be a struggle, but lunch at The Pancake House will help change their minds.

The Subtropical Swimming Paradise is heated to 29.5C all year round. With unlimited entry included in the cost of your break, you can tackle the unique Wild Water Rapids, rides and slides or take a dip in the wave pool.

One of the best things about the Subtropical Swimming Paradise is the fact that it is included in the price of your stay so the children can splash around to their heart’s content.

You won’t have to fret about the little ones being too small because there are designated areas for younger children. The water play areas are designed especially for them, with mini slides, fountains and splash pools.

Mums can kick back and relax in the Canopy Café Bar, knowing their children and husband are having a ball in the pool.

If swimming isn’t their cup of tea then the list of indoor activities will delight them. There’s everything the kids could ask for and more. Center Parcs have roller skating, cupcake decorating, badminton, pottery painting, bowling, rock climbing and sensory fun for the babies.

Our children loved the cupcake decorating workshop so much they’ve been pestering us about baking cakes every other day. Your children can learn the tricks of the trade and create six tasty cupcakes to display in a presentation box, which they’ll just have to share with mum.

Center Parcs will provide you with the cupcakes, buttercream and all the equipment needed for this creative class.

Ten Pin Bowling was the perfect way to ensure we spent time together as a family, even if the parents got a little competitive.

Don’t worry about the younger children who might struggle with the bowling balls. Center Parcs have bumpers and special ‘slides’ that they can use to ‘bowl’ the ball.

For those of you with teens, roller skating is the perfect way to get them off their phones and whizzing around the rink. This is suitable for children over the age of 11.

Rain or shine, your family will have the time of their lives at Center Parcs. You can check out a full list of indoor activities here.
