There are plenty of fun and inexpensive ways to get great looking, adventurous looking nails. With summer coming up it might be enjoyable to decorate your nails with glitter, rhinestones or nail art. Have a crack at crackle polish
Crackle polish is a nail polish that you paint onto your nails over nail polish, giving you a cracked looking effect on your nails. It can add an extra, funky dimension to your nails and is simple to apply. Follow these steps:
- Paint a base coat on
- Paint your nails with any regular nail polish; this will become the base and the back colour of the nail. Using colours such as black, gold, silver and white are recommended for this step as they look good with most other colours.
- Once the base coat is totally dry, paint on your crackle coat, sit back and watch the cracks appear on your nails.
- Paint the top coat on. You can use any regular top coat you want, apply it when the crackle coat is dry.
- If you want the cracks to be smaller paint lighter and paint heavier when you want a bigger crackle.
Say ‘Oui’ to French tips
You can’t go wrong with a French manicure. If you’re in a salon, consider asking for a coloured tip instead of the usual traditional neutral white or ivory ones. Experiment with deep cranberry-coloured tips or whatever takes your fancy on the day. Opting for metallic gold or silver nail tips can give you a really classy look.
Try nail art
If you’re in the nail salon, why not ask for some nail art for a change? You can choose from a selection of fun and colourful images to decorate your nails. You could even get a different image on each one.
Give your nails some bling
Applying faux rhinestones to your nails can result in a dazzling and glamorous look. You can buy ones in most chemists that you can apply yourself to clean unpolished fingers or to a freshly painted manicure.
