With the fine summer weather finally here, it’s the perfect time to transform your garden into a haven of fun for the kids.

A bit of creative thinking can means hours of laughter, and a peaceful house for you during the summer holidays as the kids play outside.

Here are a few ideas to help make your garden a kiddie oasis.

A treehouse:  A simple platform treehouse - as pictured - can give your little ones hours of fun. There are plenty of straightforward instructions online which can be followed in a few easy steps - attaching the foundation, inserting cross braces, laying the deck, installing a staircase and decorating. The kids can even join in on this fun project.

Summer movie night: This is something that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Lay out some fun vintage picnic blankets, grabbed some colourful mismatched patio chairs and string a white sheet from an old clothesline. Let the projector work its magic with your little one’s favourite movies under the summer stars.

A super simple sheet tent:  This is the perfect magic space for curling up with your kids, having a tea party, or playing games.  Use a sheet (not one of your good ones), a washing line and a few colourful pegs to create a wonderland for your kids. Or make a simple canopy by stringing a rope between two trees and hanging sheets off of it

Stargazing retreat: Turn an old bunk bed that was being thrown out, into a stargazing retreat for you and your little ones. You can always throw it away when the weather starts to cool down.

Chalk it up: Use chalk paint to create a DIY doddle wall for your kids. Throw in some coloured chalk and old clothes for wiping, and let your little ones show off their artistic talents under the sun.
