When Noah was four-months-old, his mum became concerned about the appearance of his pupil in photographs.

His father, Bryan Shaw, assured her all was well. Unfortunately, it wasn’t, and a routine check-up at the doctors diagnosed Noah with retinoblastoma, a rare form of cancer.

Noah lost his right eye, but was much luckier than many of the other children who are not detected early enough. It has been noted that half of the children out of the 8,000 cases each year, tragically do not make it to their fifth birthday.

Noah’s dad, Bryan, felt guilty that he had not done something sooner and began to look back at photographs to see just how early this “white eye” had began to appear. In Noah, he found that it had begun at only 12-days-old.

Bryan now believes that the key to a quick diagnosis lies in digital photography and is now creating an app. The app is question is being made by Bryan and his developers to reduce the risk of children’s lives due to undetected illnesses that may be visible through digital photography.
