Whether you're planning a road trip or packing a picnic, these sandwiches are ready to withstand changeable weather and long journeys, as well as being a delicious treat for hungry tummies.

1. Turkey wrap
Bread can be tricky to keep fresh, so try a turkey wrap in a wheat tortilla instead. Try adding feta cheese, dried cranberries for an extra flavour kick.

2. Turkey club sandwich
Bacon, cheese, and turkey are the main ingredients in this delicious club sandwich. Any of these ingredients or condiments can easily be left out, but whatever you do, don't lose the third piece of bread in the sandwich: it helps keep everything stacked in place. Pin the layers of the sandwich together by evenly and securely piercing them with toothpicks, forming a diamond pattern.

3. Ham and cheese with a twist
This creative take on a traditional ham and cheese sandwich is the perfect travelling snack, and should hold for a few hours in most conditions. The addition of protein-rich egg and sprouts should tide you over on a long journey.

4. Cheese and pickle sandwich
This British favourite is given a punch of flavour with Branston Pickle, a chutney-like condiment made with diced veggies and spices. This is a simple, but tasty and filling sandwich that lets you use up the rest of the cheddar in your fridge.

5. Tuna with fennel and lemon
Vegetarian sandwiches can sometimes go a little soggy, especially in warm weather. By stacking the fennel and lemon on top of the tuna, you should be able to enjoy a soggy-free sandwich. Plus, the lemon on top of the tuna adds a fresh crunch in place of lettuce.

6. One handed turkey sandwich
When you're on the move, you don't always have time to stop for lunch, so this one-handed sandwich is perfect for travelling. To make, use a sharp bread knife to cut a baguette across the centre of its horizontal axis. To make this sandwich more travel friendly, pluck out the bread innards to create a bread bowl, so the sandwich fixings fit snugly inside. Bread lovers, leave the top half of the bread intact and only pluck out the bread from the bottom half. Add the continents, before rolling the meat and cheese together, holding everything intact for easier, cleaner eating in the car. Each sandwich should hold between two to four pieces of rolled meat and cheese. Top with a large lettuce leaf.

7. Ham, cheese, and avocado
If the kids aren't too keen on turkey, why not make a similar version of the one-handed sandwich, but with ham instead. Instead of adding condiments like mustard, try spreading delicious avocado to give your energy levels a boost for a long journey.

8. Salmon and cream cheese bagel
Making this on bread might leave your sandwich a little soggy, so try a bagel for this tasty and healthy travel lunch. Fresh salmon will keep longer, and spread the cream cheese heavily so it isn't all absorbed into the bagel. Add some fresh watercress for extra crunch.

9. Finger sandwiches
As long as you store them in a cooler and an airtight container, finger sandwiches like salmon and cream cheese and cucumber can be enjoyed on the go. The little size makes them easier to manage and eat, especially if you are driving.

10. Benedictine cheese sandwich
This crustless sandwich combines cucumber, cream cheese, and scallions and is perfect, elegant snack for serving in a picnic.
