3,600 childcare places to be created in Ireland, Zappone announces

The Minister for Children, Katherine Zappone, has revealed 3,6000 childcare places will be created across Ireland.

It is understood that a total of €6.25 million will be invested in childcare facilities.

€3.7 million will go towards 1,321 places for 0-three-year-olds.

€2.2 million will go towards 2,308 places for school age children.

€300,000 will be invested in fire safety improvements for 33 services.

Minister Zappone commented: “Quality accessible affordable childcare requires investment. The funding being announced today will translate into over 3,600 new and extra spaces for children up to the age of 15. It is another step as we seek to address the decades of under-investment and neglect by successive governments.”
