While just a stone's throw from the hustle and bustle of the capital city, Co Wexford is a haven of beautiful sandy beaches and seaside vibes for the kids to soak up.

Here are some of the best beaches in this lovely part of the country.

1. Courtown Beaches
Courtown and the surrounding area is blessed with fabulous long sandy beaches stretching from Kilpatrick beach, which is north of Courtown. Should you drive down the coast road from Courtown to Wexford, you will come across a plethora of beaches for you to chose from.

2. Ardamine Beach
Around the rocks from Courtown's South Beach, is the long sandy beach of Ardamine. At the curve in the beach, built up sand has created a shallow, stone less sandbank, where the waves break early before reaching the beach. It’s a great spot for the kids, and a place well worth a visit

3. Ballinesker Beach
Ballinesker is very popular for bird-watching as it is part of the nature protection area of the Wexford Slobs and Harbour. There is also a plentiful supply of sea-shells on the fine sandy beach, from the common mussel to trough shells and native oyster. The film Saving Private Ryan was filmed on Ballinesker and Curracloe beaches in 1997.

4. MorrisCastle Beach
Known as The Golden Mile, this beautiful is a beautiful sheltered beach which is great for children and also has lovely sand dunes.

5. Curracloe Beach
Curracloe Beach is a regular holder of the Blue Flag Beach status. The dunes are currently the subject of an active conservation policy by Wexford County Council ensuring that this marvellous amenity and the plant and wildlife it contains will be preserved for future generations. A nature trail runs through the dunes and continues for 5km to Raven Point, passing through the beautiful peninsula which constitutes Raven Nature Reserve.
