6 genius packing hacks that will make travelling with kids WAY easier

Heading off to warmer climates was always such a novelty in our younger years, but it becomes way more stressful when you have to travel with your gorgeous little kiddos.

The chaos truly begins when you realise you're no longer packing for yourself, you are packing for your children also.

This means trying to squish way more into your suitcase, which can be an exhausting (and soul-destroying) task.

But there are hacks that can seriously help with packing - and they genuinely work.

Check these life-changing tips out, you'll be glad you did:

1. Roll EVERYTHING

As we mentioned already, you'll be packing clothes for yourself and your little ones, so you will need to make the most of space in your case. We seriously recommend rolling all items of clothing. Not only does it save space in your bag, but it also decreases wrinkling.

2. Keep liquids to a minimum

When packing, it can be really tempting to over do it - especially when it comes to liquids. A word of advice: unless you are travelling into the depths of the desert, there is no need to over pack these essentials. Get yourself to a local supermarket when you arrive, and stock up on shampoos and body lotions!

3. First Aid is key

When it comes to first aid, you need to be prepared for every possible issue, but you also need to fit your kit into your handbag (ideally!) Make a list of everything you may need, from plasters to antiseptic spray, and bring enough for each of your children. Label everything though, so as not to confuse aspirin for antihistamine.

Remember, there is no need to pack absolutely everything under the sun, and many medicines have multiple uses.

4. Buckets and spades

If you're bring buckets and spades for the kids (sand castles GALORE) then be smart about how to transport them. If you are putting them in your case, fill them with underwear and socks to make the most of the space. Alternatively, let your little ones carry their buckets while travelling, serving as a cute little (plastic) bag for them.

5. Avoid dirty shoes

There is nothing worse than popping a pair of dirty shoes into a suitcase, on top of all your lovely clean clothes. Avoid this mess by placing your shoes (and your child's) into shower caps - GENIUS.

6. Entertain them

This tip won't make packing easier, but it will make your life easier. Kids get restless, especially if they're stuck in the same spot for hours (think plane seat or the car), so you should arm yourself with fun things to keep them entertained. We recommend stickers as they don't take up any room in your bag, and provide hours of fun.

Oh, and while you're at it, bring snacks. Hell hath no fury like a hungry kiddo.
