Additional funds granted for Madeleine McCanns disappearance case

It has been reported that the government are set continue funding the Madeleine McCann disappearance case.

Madeleine went missing when she was three-years-old during a family holiday in Portugal in 2007.

An astonishing £11 million has been invested in the investigation but detectives have yet to discover what happened to the young girl.

Last November, investigators were granted a further £150,000 in funding. They must apply for funding every six months to continue the investigation.

They have failed to find any new leads in quite some time, reports claim.

It is believed the police investigating her disappearance will receive funding until March 2020.

The amount of funding has yet to be confirmed.

Her parents, Kate and Gerry, said in the past that they will never give up hope of finding their eldest daughter and they are grateful for the continued investigation.

Last year, Madeleine McCann’s parents released a statement honouring their daughter on the eleventh anniversary of her disappearance.

“We couldn’t bear for Madeleine to be forgotten or to become just a ‘story’,” the parents said.

“She is a real person and still our ‘little girl’ and as we always have, we will endeavour to do whatever it takes to find her.

“Thank you so much for staying with us on this mission,” they added.
