That first year with baby can be tough for many new mums - and that’s before you add colic or any other ailments that may mean baby can be often fussy.

That’s why a young mum in Australia was left hurt and angry when an anonymous letter came through her door complaining about her baby’s crying.

Trisha LaForty, who is a mum to 11-month-old Will, discovered the note which read: “You may be able to ignore your baby crying but we are tired of listening to him crying non stop all day.”

The young mum then took to Facebook to reach out to the anonymous sender: “To whoever wrote this note: thanks. Like being a parent isn’t tough enough… You didn’t even have the guts to come knock on our door. FYI our baby doesn’t cry ‘all day’, he cried when he doesn’t want to go to sleep, when he’s getting his nappy changed and when I say ‘no’ because I refuse to let him be spoiled and run around like he owns the joint. If you’d like to chat more, feel free to pop in. You obviously know where we live - a mum and dad doing their best."

Trisha also explained to her local news outlet that nobody has come forward about the note, after she spoke to neighbours: “I wanted to clear the air, but also to find out if anyone had experienced any similar notes. I still have no idea who it is … every baby has good days and bad days. Parents should be able to have the support from their community. I think it’s sad that there are still people out there who lack the true feel of what community should be.”
