The bond between a mother and her child is one of the most natural phenomena in this life, and the following amazing discovery by archaeologists in Taiwan has proven this in the most beautiful way.

Hearts all over the world have been touched, after a team in the city of Taichung discovered a fossil of a mother holding her infant child in her arms.

The fossil – one of almost 50 sets of remains recovered in graves in the city – is almost 5,000 years old and represents one of the earliest traces of human life in the area.

The dig began back in May 2014, but it was not until recently that this incredible discovery was made.

It seems there is something extra special about the fossil, however, as a curator at the country’s National Museum of Natural Science revealed.

Speaking to local media, Chu Whei-lee said: “When it was unearthed, all of the archaeologists and staff members were shocked. Why? Because the mother was looking down at the baby in her hands.”

This discovery just goes to prove that the bond between a mother and her little one transcends time.
