Losing a child stirs up a very particular type of heartbreak, known only too well by Australian couple Anthony Maslin and Marite Norris, whose three young children died on the doomed MH17 flight, in 2014.

Little Evie, Mo and Otis Maslin were on board the flight with their grandfather, Nick Norris, when it was struck by a missile while flying over Ukraine. All 298 people on board lost their lives in the shocking tragedy.

While Anthony and Marite have been left distraught by their loss, there has been a heart-warming update to their story this week – they have just welcomed another baby into the world.

According to a statement released via Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the couple welcomed a daughter, Violet May, on Tuesday, May 10.

“Violet’s birth is a testament to our belief that love is stronger than hate. We still live with pain, but Violet, and the knowledge that all four kids are with us always, brings light to our darkness," they said.

The proud parents added: “We will continue to love all four of our children equally. Violet brings some hope and joy for us. We hope she brings hope and joy for you, too.”

What a beacon of light little Violet May is.
