If you are after a short family break with a bit of a difference, why not head along to the Body and Soul festival where the unique Soul Kids area is dedicated to kids and families.
This year’s family-friendly festival is full of adventures and magical happenings that youngsters are sure to rememeber for a long time.
Taking place in Ballinlough Estate on 20th - 22nd June, Body and Soul is a world of wonder for children, as they explore the labyrinth of entertainment and excitement throughout the festival.
Aside from its fantastical programme of entertainment, the organisers have also arranged that the family camping area (a sanctuary and refuge to satisfy sleepy little ones) has been turned into a realm of pirate make-believe.
There is also a new dedicated information tent within the family campsite at the Soul Kids HQ, which will feature staff and crew dressed in nautical and pirate themed costumes, who will be ready to provide information about the festival: what’s on offer, where to go, how to get around etc.
The mornings will be a buzz of morning yoga and creative workshops, while the evenings contain wind-down sound yoga and night-time storytelling to soothe little souls. Organisers have even arranged a burker boiler for hot water bottles to keep them toasty in their slumber.
Why not soak up the sun in the Family Hot Tubs at the Lakeside Sanctuary and Spa, before bouncing into a bundle of enchanting interactive story telling sessions. Be stunned at the Story of the Universe and discover the oldest tale in the world, told in verse over a soundtrack of old Irish melodies, reawakening in your little ones, a sense of awe and wonder for the natural world.
You can even make and adorn your own fanciful hair wraps and bracelets in Wired to the Moon, an energetic workshop where enthusiastic artists recite myths about the fairy world. Then you can traipse with the other pixies through the woodland installations with your little ones on the atmospheric Arts Trail at dusk.
