Halloween is only a few weeks away and we are already thinking about pumpkins, mountains of sweets and finding the perfect costume for our kids (and ourselves too.)

The holiday is loved by many, but parents are well aware of the risks that come with it.

There’s just a little over a month to go until the spooky night and Dublin Fire Brigade are already sending warnings to the public.

They advised people to report youths who are collecting materials like tyres and pallets. They use the items to start bonfires in local parks, which are extremely dangerous.

They tweeted: “We are seeing an increase in fires of pallets and tyres. The annual #Halloween stockpiling season is well underway.”

They asked business owners to remember that you are responsible for your waste and to dispose of it carefully, so adolescents don’t have access to materials they can burn.

They advised the public to report the stashes to www.fixmystreet.ie. You can also file a report to your local council.

Unauthorised bonfires are extremely harmful and have been the cause of many horrifying accidents throughout the years.

It is vital to keep children away from these fires during the Halloween period. Accidents can easily happen so it is best to supervise your children at all times.
