Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a body of what appears to be a newborn baby.
The corpse was discovered on an undisclosed beach in Balbriggan, Co. Dublin shortly before 10:00am on Saturday December 15.
The scene is currently sealed off and a technical examination of the area has begun.
Not much is known about the tragic incidence. The name and sex of the baby has yet to be released to the public.
Gardaí have concerns about the wellbeing of the child's mother and are asking her to come forward.
They are also appealing to anyone else with information to contact Balbriggan Garda Station on 01-802-0510.
