A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of an eight-month old baby. And a women has also been arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a child.

 

The child was found with multiple injuries - and police have called the incident "deeply distressing". 

 

 

Officers had been called by paramedics to a property in the Spotland area of Rochdale in Greater Manchester on Tuesday. He was taken to hospital but died on Thursday.

 

The arrested man is aged 25, while the woman is 24.

 

Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Daniels said: "This is a deeply distressing investigation involving a small child.

 

 

"Our thoughts at this time are with the family, friends and all others within the local community who may be affected by this incident."
