Breaking: Nurses and midwives to strike for 24 hours at the end of January

It has been confirmed that nurses and midwives will strike for 24 hours on January 30.

They are also planning to strike in February if their issues are not resolved.

The INMO stated that there will be potential strikes on February 5, 7, 12, 13 and 14.

It is understood that 40,000 members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation will strike at the end of the month.

95 percent of the INMO agreed that the strikes were necessary.

The reasons for the strike include low wages, as well as recruitment and retention issues.

Only lifesaving care and emergency response will be provided on January 30.
