This year's budget is looming and to mark the occasion, children were asked what they would do with the funds.

The charity, Barnardos offered a welcome distraction from the anticipation of tomorrow's budget.

The video details the different things the younger generation would support if they were in charge of Ireland's money, and it's precious.

It seems that our children have an interesting insight into some of the topical issues impacting Ireland.

While they had some creative responses from flying cars to football pitches, some kids hit on housing and childcare.

It goes to show that we don't give their generation enough credit, as they're clearly aware of the world around them.

Unfortunately, some children are more aware of that reality than others.

Heartbreakingly, one in nine Irish youngsters are living in consistent poverty, according to the children's charity.
