A charity coffee morning will take place in the Arklow Bay Hotel on Saturday, 21st November in aid of the Jack and Jill Foundation and Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (NILD2S).

As well as raising much-needed funds and awareness, the event is being hosted in memory of Mae McElheron, who passed away from Trisomy 18 ‘Edward’s Syndrome’ at just seven weeks old.

Edward’s Syndrome is a life-threatening illness with a high mortality rate, and when Mae’s condition was diagnosed in late pregnancy, her parents were told to expect the worst.

However, despite the odds, Mae was born weighing 4lbs 14oz this July, and was discharged a few days after birth.

Thankfully, she got to spend time with her mum, dad and two brothers, before sadly losing her fight in August.

The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation were on hand to help out if and when needed and NILD2S helped to capture those precious first moments after birth, which sadly, in some cases, are also the last.

If you can’t make the coffee morning but would still like to help, you can leave a donation here.
